ISIS: a non Islamic State

It is unfortunate that ISIS is often seen as an outshoot of Islam or as Islam by some.

Merely trying to link atrocities to the Quran or sayings of the Prophet peace be upon him does not make something Islam.

There are many people use try to twist the sayings and example of people out of context for their own benefit and actions.

It seems that only president Obama has been wise enough to recognise ISIS as non Islamic.

Many Muslims feel insulted having such groups and terrorist people attributed to them and the religion of Islam.

Islam is against the killing of innocent people and of oppression of both Muslims and non Muslims.

Muslims have a mission of telling people and calling people to Islam, which involved trying to teach people and persuade them about the faith.

If people accept they are considered brotgers and if not they are left to live their lives according to the beliefs and religion that they choose.

The Quran tells us

there is no compulsion in religion, the right way has become distinct from the wrong way.

To tell people about Islam people have to be alive, they would not be able to do so if they were dead.

If people were killed for not accepting the faith a lot of the people who have done - including myself - would not be around at the moment

Killing, oppression and attacks on innocents are all against the practice of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him.

It is said he never raised a hand to any woman, and not to any man except I'm the battlefield.

If he were here would he accept the killing of innocent men and women? Of course not.

Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him forgave many of the people who harmed him and his family.

His uncle was killed and a woman ordered for his liver to be removed so she could chew it up and sour it out.

Still be forgave her and in the end she became Muslim from her own free will.

The Quran prevented the killing of innocent baby girls prevalent at the time and the inheritance of women by the son of their husband.

Women had no rights before Islam, yet they were given a voice, a code of conduct and various rights from the Quran.

The essence of the shariah is to prevent the things that harm people he encourage those things that are good.

Education for both men and women is obligatory to some level and recommended more than that.

Women and also men have the right to choose their marriage partner and to accept or refuse.

A saying of Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him says that the virgin shall not be married until her permission is sought.

People asked how her permission could be sought.

Her silence is her permission.

That is because if she does not protest ir is as if she does not mind, except if she shows any other sign of non acceptance.

I hope to have given some insight over the issue of ISIS not being Islamic.

One may ask, then who are they?

This is the problem we seem to find not an answer towards.

A confused type of cowboy perhaps.

This is another reason why ignorance of the true Islam has a negative effect on a lot of the world.

Grey hair: its meaning, causes and treatment according to Islam sources

Grey hair: what does it mean, what are the causes and remedies and is it age related Perhaps it's not the most enlightening or uplifting subject but I thought it an interesting subject to talk about. I don't have grey hair but hope to share what I know about why it occurs, if it can be prevented and reversed and what it means. Since some stereotypes are that grey hair only sprouts after forty. Yet we see people in their thirties or even younger with grey hair at times.  At other times some people don't go grey until their sixties or not at all. Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him did not go grey until he was over sixty and this is probably how it should be if we looked after ourselves. It will be interesting to discuss why he may not have had many grey hairs at his passing at 63 years old. Grey hair is said to be one of the first signs of aging, and is often said to coincide with muscle weakening, general weakening of eye sight, hearing and physical strength.   It can some...

Freedom of Speech, human rights and Islam: its reality and limitations

Freedom of speech and its limits: comparing human rights law and Islamic law We are often told that modern society has, “freedom of speech.” Freedom of speech is a human right under article 19 of the human rights act and international law as formulated by the UN.   Some countries have freedom of speech as part of constitutional law. Freedom of speech, free speech and freedom of expression are often used interchangeably. The term covers activities that involve seeking, imparting knowledge or finding out knowledge regardless of the method used. When we hear that we have freedom of speech we understand that we can say whatever we want.   Eleanor Roosevelt and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948)—Article 19 states that "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers."[1] This was ...

Stress: Islamic advice to deal with it

Stress has been defined as feelings of tension due to psychological, emotional or physical factors. Most people, particularly in the modern world experience some degree of stress. We feel stressed from our jobs, from dealing with difficult people and customers and having to meet deadlines, at school or university. Anything that makes us feel tension can be a source of stress. We can feel stressed in our relationships at times. Maybe we don't feel understood or we have unmet needs. Distress is a negative type of stress, and describes the state of someone experiencing tension. We tend to feel stressed when we feel we are not in control of a situation. The less control we feel the more stressed we feel. New events, even positive, such as moving house, getting married, having a child or starting or leaving a job can all make us feel stressed. Unemployment, lack of provisions and being in unsuitable jobs or relationships can all make us feel stressed. When we feel unde...
