Foods from Quran and hadith that may help with Coronovirus

Recently there has been a finding and claim of some doctors that certain foods can help in the treating of Coronovirus.  What we have learned is the importance of keeping the immune system strong at such a time.

These foods were mainly Chocolate (particularly the dark type), grapes and green tea.  Apparently they are anti viral.

I then started to think, from what I know of the Quran and the foods and beverages recommended by Islamic and there are a few that may help with such viruses and illnesses, although they have not been scientifically verified.

1) Honey.

The Quran mentions honey in the Quran and describes it as a cure and remedy.   Honey is know to strengthen the immune system and is very useful for throat infections and colds and flu.

It may help a person in their battle with viruses, infections and so forth because it strengthens the body.

The fact that it is a source of fat that a person needs when suffering from any lung related malady makes it suitable for helping patients.

Not all honey is the same and pure, unadulterated honey is probably more expensive and more difficult to find.  However, it is the pure variety that will likely be beneficial.

2) Black seed and its oil.

Black seed has been described as having a cure for everything except death.  It is especially useful for breathing and lung related difficulties.

The oil of black seed is used to treat breathing problems, asthma,  allergies and bronchitis and so forth.

I did read in a book however, that a person should not take more than 25mg a day.  Too much may not be good for one.

3) Olive oil.

Olive and olive oil are mentioned in the Quran and are said to come from a blessed tree.  It contains many anti oxidants and is said to be anti fungal, anti bacterial and strengthens the immune system and body.

Anyone with problems with their lungs and breathing needs to increase their fat intake in order to oxygenise the body.

4). Milk.

Perhaps it is not something that is considered a remedy to many people but milk has been mentioned as a drink that is not only nourishing but also can be a remedy and cure for certain illnesses.

Milk strengthens the body and provides a good level of fat, which may be needed in such conditions.

5) Pumpkin.

Pumpkin is another food mentioned in the Quran that is mentioned as curing.  The Prophet Yunus peace be upon him is reported to have eaten pumpkin after escaping from the below of the whale.

His skin was  burned and he must have been run down and weak.

Pumpkin is full of healthy vitamins, such as vitamin C and A amongst others.  These strengthen the immune system.

In my own experience, making a warm winter soup with pumpkin and garlic is a delicious remedy to many types of colds and flu.

So these are five different foods, oils and beverages from the Quran and Islamic sources that may have some benefit against the coronovirus.

However, they are not scientifically tested and I am not making any claim to miracle cures.  I am not responsible for anyone not cured by this information.

People should also educate themselves and do their own research.

Grey hair: its meaning, causes and treatment according to Islam sources

Grey hair: what does it mean, what are the causes and remedies and is it age related Perhaps it's not the most enlightening or uplifting subject but I thought it an interesting subject to talk about. I don't have grey hair but hope to share what I know about why it occurs, if it can be prevented and reversed and what it means. Since some stereotypes are that grey hair only sprouts after forty. Yet we see people in their thirties or even younger with grey hair at times.  At other times some people don't go grey until their sixties or not at all. Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him did not go grey until he was over sixty and this is probably how it should be if we looked after ourselves. It will be interesting to discuss why he may not have had many grey hairs at his passing at 63 years old. Grey hair is said to be one of the first signs of aging, and is often said to coincide with muscle weakening, general weakening of eye sight, hearing and physical strength.   It can some...

Freedom of Speech, human rights and Islam: its reality and limitations

Freedom of speech and its limits: comparing human rights law and Islamic law We are often told that modern society has, “freedom of speech.” Freedom of speech is a human right under article 19 of the human rights act and international law as formulated by the UN.   Some countries have freedom of speech as part of constitutional law. Freedom of speech, free speech and freedom of expression are often used interchangeably. The term covers activities that involve seeking, imparting knowledge or finding out knowledge regardless of the method used. When we hear that we have freedom of speech we understand that we can say whatever we want.   Eleanor Roosevelt and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948)—Article 19 states that "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers."[1] This was ...

Stress: Islamic advice to deal with it

Stress has been defined as feelings of tension due to psychological, emotional or physical factors. Most people, particularly in the modern world experience some degree of stress. We feel stressed from our jobs, from dealing with difficult people and customers and having to meet deadlines, at school or university. Anything that makes us feel tension can be a source of stress. We can feel stressed in our relationships at times. Maybe we don't feel understood or we have unmet needs. Distress is a negative type of stress, and describes the state of someone experiencing tension. We tend to feel stressed when we feel we are not in control of a situation. The less control we feel the more stressed we feel. New events, even positive, such as moving house, getting married, having a child or starting or leaving a job can all make us feel stressed. Unemployment, lack of provisions and being in unsuitable jobs or relationships can all make us feel stressed. When we feel unde...
